Sweet Radish Music

This is Abe.  Abe is a musician, videographer, arborist and food justice advocate. He spent time in university studying Theater, Music and Film. Abe plays guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, piano, is a singer/songwriter and currently lives in the San Luis Valley in Colorado. Abe’s father Ed was a musician and inspired him to pursue a life of music. What or Who inspired you to make music?

My Dad was the first inspiration for me and he gave me my first instruments to bang around on.

 

What instruments do you play?

Guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, ukulele, bass.

 

What is your favorite instrument/s or gear/equipment? and Why?

My favorite instrument has always been the guitar because it is so versatile.

 

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Funny, sometimes serious, folky songs about life.

 

What is your creative process like?

Go with the flow, I write about what inspires me at the time and try not to force it.

 

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

David Bowie

 

What is the most useless talent you have?

I can play hot cross buns with two recorders using my nostrils.

 

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I usually whistle old celtic tunes like kid on the mountain, oh danny boy etc.

 

What is your favorite song/s to perform?

Right now the Dust Blows Hard is my favorite and Everyone Inc.  I just like the groove man!

 

Which famous musicians do you admire?

This list is never ending but right now the top three are Nahko and Medicine for the People, Twenty One Pilots, Walk off The Earth.

 

What is the perfect theme song for your life?

“I am a Rock” -Simon and Garfunkel

 

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Got a puppy, she chewed through the gas line on our heater…. We nearly died.  A week later she chewed through the laptop charger…. We nearly killed her.

 

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

This is Garrett. Garrett is Abe’s Bestie from high school and they had been in a band together called “subnombulus” in college. They played doom metal. The band did not make it but Garrett and Abe’s friendship continues still. Garrett studied Theater, Art and Music at Adams State University and currently lives in the San Luis Valley in Colorado.

We just love this guy! He’s an artist and graphic designer as well as a very diverse musician. Garrett plays guitar, mandolin, bass, piano and sings and writes his own music. He’s also a blast to be around. What or Who inspired you to make music?

A lot of it was The Beatles. Grateful Dead, NOFX and crazy people like Weird Al Yankovic and my Mom who is the most amazing person I know next to von miller.

 

What instruments do you play?

Sometimes I play with surgical instruments when i am not supposed to.

 

What is your favorite instrument/s or gear/equipment? and Why?

I like the Bass because you can maintain a feeling and it is really easyyyyyy. Favorite gear…JBL, Dean and Gibson.

 

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Weird and off the wall but still maintaining new themes of some kind

 

What is your creative process like?

Based somewhat off personal experience but twisted into some dark metaphor.

 

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Anyone but Nazis.

 

What is the most useless talent you have?

Pretty color blind. I can also stick my tongue into my nostril.

Not been showering as much. Love anything catchy in the shower

This is Morgan. Morgan is a musician, videographer and organic farmer. She studied Architectural Drafting, Art, Music and Computer Programming in College. Morgan is our lead singer for Sweet Radish and she also plays the flute, piano, ukulele, guitar, banjo and writes a lot of the songs we produce.  She currently operates and organic farm animal and wildlife sanctuary in Southern Colorado. What or Who inspired you to make music?

My Inspirations grow everyday to keep making music. Some of the firsts were My Aunt Jennie, Bonnie Raitt, Weird Al, Nirvana, my high school music teacher Mrs. Pavlovsky, my college guitar mentor Tim Edwards.

 

What instruments do you play?

I sing, play the classical flute and piccolo, piano, guitar, ukulele, teeny bit of banjo and a mean bucket bass.

I really love my little snowball mic and my computer and editing programs.

 

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Heart pounding, soulful, straight from personal experience and storytelling.

 

What is your creative process like?

Random, Sudden all at once ideas and inspirations. Vulnerability. Drilling songs until we’re exhausted and then watching a hundred hours of Netflix.

 

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Every single one of my friends and family.

 

What is the most useless talent you have?

Bringing Kombucha SCOBYs back from the dead. Fly whisperer.

Living Off-Grid so showers are more like sponge baths but yes, would definitely sing in the shower if I was alone, I also like showering and chit chat.
